The Basics

Scenable is an online platform for connecting to, participating in and interacting with local communities. Through a web and mobile (android/iPhone) application, Scenable brings the businesses, places, events, news and other people that make up local communities (“Scenes”) into the palm of your hand while also providing a platform for interaction and local commerce to happen online.

For individuals, Scenable is the online/mobile way to check out what local communities are all about. For communities, Scenable allows them to take control of their online presence so they can become Digital Destinations.

A Platform for Local Communities…Online

Right now it is possible to get pieces of information about local communities from a variety of different sources. Google and other services provide maps and basic business information, Yelp provides some reviews, FourSquare and Facebook allow people to check into establishments, local media and blogs list events and news, Facebook allows for social interaction, etc. However, these pieces are all only small parts of what makes local communities what they are, and by them being in so many disparate places, it makes it very hard for people to connect to local communities and for local communities to build presence online.

Scenable changes this by bringing these disparate pieces together into one place. By combining the information from what’s already out there into a web and mobile application that’s easy and fun to use, as well as by giving both businesses and individuals the opportunity to interact through it, Scenable creates an online platform that is a reflection of what the community is like on the ground level.

Features

Scenable includes features that make it easy to connect to, interact with and participate in local communities. Below is a list of things that users will be able to do at each of these levels:

Connection:

• Get information about events in each community.
• Learn more about the businesses and places in each community.
• Browse news relevant to each community.
• Find out about the specials being offered by businesses in each community.
• See jobs & volunteer opportunities available in each community.

Interaction:

• Users will be able to purchase specials from local businesses in the community.
• The “Chatter” feature will allow users to post updates, ask questions and post pictures.
• User will be able to indicate they are attending events and check into places they are at.

Participation:

• Participating businesses will receive receive a unique QR code window sticker for users to scan to get more information about the business and see what they have to offer.
• Users will earn points for attending events, purchasing specials, etc.
• Points become status, indicating how involved users are in each community.

Together, these features combine to create an online connection point to what’s happening in a local community. And since Scenable will ultimately include many communities, it’ll be easy to navigate between them and become a part of the community that matters the most to you.
